Dr. Joyce Tu Appointed to Prestigious Editorial Board

A top scholarly journal selected Dr. Joyce Tu, Easterseals Southern California’s Vice President of Clinical Transformations for Autism Services, as an editorial board member to help shape the publication’s content over the next three years.

The journal Behavior and Social Issues, published by the Association of Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), publishes studies about how people behave in society, to help address some of the major problems affecting the world. The journal, which was downloaded 91,000 times in 2022, is especially focused on research that deals with social fairness, human rights, and protecting the environment.

As a member of the editorial board, Joyce will shape what appears on the pages of the publication. She will review submissions, provide input on the development of mentorship opportunities for emerging scholars, and also submit research of her own.

The appointment is in addition to her job as Vice President of Clinical Transformations for Autism Services at ESSC. In both roles, she applies her extensive experience in educational psychology as a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst with a doctorate in educational psychology. Her research focuses on verbal behavior—specifically joint control and its role in listeners’ behavior.

“I was so honored to be asked to be on the board,” said Joyce. “I’m especially interested in getting an early look at the different studies and ideas that people are working on.”

The appointment is both a personal achievement, and a testament to the caliber of her work and commitment to transforming the lives of participants.
