We Are the 25%

We Are the 25%

by Mark Whitley

As advocates, champions and friends of the disability community, on Nov. 3, each of us has the opportunity to make our voice heard – and vote.

To help spread the message, ESSC has launched a public awareness campaign, “We are the 25%” in both English and Spanish. The campaign highlights that 1 in 4 Americans identifies has having a disability, and that the disability vote represents some 61 million voices strong. ESSC has also created a special video “We Will Be Heard” featuring ESSC participants and associates, including advocate Howard McBroom.

I encourage you to register by October 19 and to vote when you receive your ballot in the mail.

Also, spread the word to your family, friends and others in your community by sharing the link to http://wearethe25.org/, where you can find numerous voting resources, social media posts, accessibility tools and other information.

We thank our partners at ELA Advertising, led by our Board Chairperson Andre Filip, for their donated work in creating this campaign. I am proud that we can share our message about the power of the disability vote during this election season.

Thank you for what you do every day to change the way the world defines and views disabilities. Get out the vote!
